Des Moines, Iowa – Wells Fargo Arena finished 2019 ranked as the #60 arena in the US according to Pollstar Magazine, which tracks tickets sales for touring shows for all worldwide venues. Wells Fargo Arena is part of the Iowa Events Center, which is owned by Polk County and managed by Spectra Venue Management.
To determine the top arenas worldwide, Pollstar collects ticket office reports from performing artists, the venues and promoters. The rankings are based on tickets sold for live touring entertainment performances, not including sporting events, between 11/22/18 and 11/20/19.
“2019 was a good year for touring acts and concerts at Wells Fargo Arena,” said Spectra’s Chris Connolly, General Manager of the Iowa Events Center. “There is a ton of competition amongst midwestern venues for dates, so we are excited about how we ended last year and are looking forward to the upcoming shows that we have for 2020.”
Wells Fargo Arena was ranked #8 amongst Iowa and bordering state venues, surpassing the numbers from Target Center in Minneapolis, TaxSlayer Center in Moline and Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls among others.
Highlights from 2019 included new headlining artists to the arena like Cardi B, Luke Combs, Shawn Mendes, Thomas Rhett, Tool, and Twenty One Pilots along with artists who had visited before and returned like Kenny Chesney, Dave Matthews Band, Carrie Underwood, Kiss and others.
The schedule so far for 2020 includes upcoming shows with Jason Aldean, Cher, Michael Buble, Elton John and Ozzy Osbourne. WinterJam kicks off the 2020 concert schedule with a show next Thursday, January 23.
